Grizzly News: News and Information

About Grizzly News

Our Grizzly News team consists of sixth graders who apply for positions and are chosen because of their leadership skills and consistent Grizzly GREAT qualities.

Each week, approximately 30-40 scriptwriters, stage managers, technicians, and desk reporters prepare, plan, and run the broadcasts. We live stream the broadcast on Thursdays during our lunch. We then share a recorded link of the broadcast to staff with the intent that the video be shown in classrooms on Fridays.

Grizzly News team members spend 2-3 lunches every few weeks preparing and providing the broadcast. We practice and model a growth mindset.  We only do one take, so our sixth graders and all who watch remember that mistakes are a part of life, and we move on from them.  These learning opportunities are usually the best parts of each episode. :)

A key goal of Grizzly News is to build our ever-growing community into one that feels like a family. We also want to ensure everyone is up to speed on activities and events taking place around the school and in the classrooms. There is so much to celebrate! Grizzly News is also an incredible opportunity for sixth graders to develop leadership, technology, and other skills before transitioning to middle skill.

Thank you for showing the broadcast in your classrooms!
